ringing in the Holidays with Fulcrum
The holiday season holds a special place in the hearts of many, offering a cherished opportunity to gather with friends and family. It’s a time to carry on beloved traditions while also creating new memories. With that cheerful spirit in mind, we’re sharing the fun and festive ways the Fulcrum team brings the holiday season to life and what makes it truly special!
“For the holidays, we enjoy the annual tradition of visiting the magical Gingerbread Village at The Sheraton Grand Hotel. The gingerbread creations are incredibly creative, especially the interactive ones!”
“Returning to my hometown for an annual Christmas Eve gathering – food, family, friends, and the 24-hour marathon of A Christmas Story.”
“Our extended family is very big, and for many years, we’ve gone to my cousin’s house for Thanksgiving and Christmas family gatherings. This year, we’re changing it up by staying home and keeping it small, but with a lot of leftovers!”
“Gathering with family to make lefse and pierogi is always a highlight, along with watching some of the Christmas classics like National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”
“We enjoy watching holiday movies together, starting with Planes, Trains and Automobiles on Thanksgiving.”
“Holidays for our family were more about tradition and food. We would celebrate on Christmas Eve with many Danish food specialties. My grandmother and mom would always set a beautiful table and have many holiday treats like potato sausage, Risalamande, rhullepolse on Rugbrod, pickled herring, and then ebelskiver, Marzipan Challah, and Kringle on Christmas day.”
“When I was little, we lived in a duplex in Watertown, MA. Our landlord was a Greek couple, and my mom became good friends with the wife, Sophie. She taught Mom how to make baklava. Mom and I made it together every Christmas to send to friends and family, and I’m carrying on the tradition.”
“My holiday season is a multi-cultural blend of local and family heritage. We love attending the public Hanukkah candle lighting at University Village and listening to the band play while eating chocolate gelt. Then, every other year, my partner and I travel to California to celebrate the Japanese tradition of Mochitsuki. It is an incredible event where extended family and friends gather at a farmhouse in the middle of San Jose to pound rice into mochi using traditional giant wooden hammers.”
“Each holiday season, I officially kick off the festivities by listening to Handel’s Messiah on Thanksgiving Day. It’s a cherished tradition that sets the tone for the weeks ahead. My current go-to recording is this incredible rendition here—a timeless masterpiece that never fails to inspire.”
“Our family tradition after opening gifts is playing chime carols. My mom hands out numbered chimes and holds up a posterboard where she’s written Christmas songs as sequences of numbers. She points to each number, and whoever has that chime plays their note. We start out sounding terrible, but by the third song, it’s almost recognizable. Number 3 is a perpetual ‘thunk’ that gets a laugh every time!”
“Christmas Eve meal and opening gifts from my family with the kids! Playing the game Salad Bowl with the wife and in-laws, and lots of laughs. We spend New Year’s Eve with our neighbors.”
“During the holidays, I’m either spending time with my family here in Seattle or hitting the slopes in Colorado with my fiancé’s family. I’m lucky to enjoy the best of both worlds, with delicious food and great company!”
